In what universe is it an acceptable to say that you "stumbled across the blonde's naked body by chance as [you] staggered home drunk", and therefore decided to have sex with, well, it (since that's clearly how you view the body at that stage of proceedings).
Note the use by the journalist (I suppose the journalist, although he or she - I presume he - could be paraphrasing Dixie's barrister) of the dehumanising phrase "the blonde", rather than the name of the victim.
Still, at least even Dixie's own defence barrister is admitting his behaviour was disgusting.
How about "illegal, even if the victim had still been alive?" (and, of course, assuming we believe Dixie's version of events.)
Oh, that's right, in that case he probably never would have been prosecuted.
It's cases like this which make me question my career choice. Oh, I believe in the cab-rank rule, and I stand by the reasons for it. But I am scared of having to apply it in a case like this.
